Mizzou sports is like a canary in the coal mine for knowing when major reconstruction is coming for college sports.
Mizzou only gets good, though not national or even conference championship type good of course, when a success bar has to be met in order for them to be accepted into the next big money venture that's coming.
The powers that be very much want our decent sized state to have a representative and the university is not against a short term money/effort expenditure that would set them up for admittance into this new league that's coming only then to settle in as a long term, extremely well compensated punching bag for decades and decades thereafter.
