Democrat regimes tended to meddle in cases more than republican administrations. I recall some investigations being shut down entirely, because a political ally had an interest in a targeted business. Often, new dem appointed directors would come in and demand a list of names of the businesses and individuals under investigation and in the process of getting the hammer. We all understood what that meant.
