especially when federal largesse is even slightly under threat within said agencies.
They (government agencies) create for themselves a too big to fail entity that is transformed into a existential entity that is beyond reproach and any examination or constraints is some action of "bad" political ideology.
It is a playbook used by all of them and, more importantly, the political actors who derive benefit from said agencies.
It's a game, and a sad farce that must never end, or else.
