may not have seen the commercial flight. The helicopter pilot tells ATC that they have the jet in sight and they accepted responsibility for visual separation. Importantly, the helicopter is not seeing a view anything like the video you posted shows. They are in the air and having to identify a myriad of lights from other aircraft and urban sources. The interesting part of the video starts at about 9 minutes in (the part that talks about the helicopter's role).
