Again…wins and losses don’t matter at all in gymnastics. It’s all about the score. That being said we did post a season high 197.2 . Our first score over 197 this season. We need more of these as the highest score gets dropped once NQS kicks in.
Overall it was an improvement in a lot of areas. Vault is still giving us some fits. We have upgraded vaults in our line up 5/6 are 10.0 SV but the execution has been poor so we aren’t getting the value out of them. Even some of our big vaulters aren’t getting the scores they did last year but Moore has been rocking it the last two meets.
Bars was much better than the last couple of weeks. A couple of new additions to the line up this week. There’s still room for landing improvements so hopefully we will see this event trend upward.
Beam saw the most new routines this week. Following a lead off fall the rest of the line up really came through for one of our best beam totals in a long time and Helen Hu was unreal again going 9.975…just the tiniest balance check on her dismount. The biggest glaring issue here is a really solid lead off. This is a spot you don’t need your strongest routine but a basic guaranteed hit and we just don’t have that other than Helen. I liked the new ones to the lineup but it seems we’re going to be feast or famine .
Floor looked much more like our typical floor with a bunch of solid routines from our experienced gymnasts who were just off their game last weekend.
KY overall had a rough meet for them as they went mid 197s last weekend They had some kids not in the line ups for various reasons and are also still trying to find the consistency they had last year.
Short rest for the ladies as we’re back up on Friday.
