They're using primitive tactics that would be laughed at by the Czar's army's general staff in 1914.
This war, like any war, is simply a disaster of what it costs in treasure and human life.
But the fear mongering over an unstoppable Russia sweeping across Poland and beyond in the next adventure is pure, keep the people petrified at all costs propaganda, and nothing more, just to keep the spigot open.
