to stand down and do nothing while criminals ran freely, committing crimes at will, I'd get them to agree that Satan is the only source of evil and that nothing can be done to oppose him (other than going to church on Sunday and praying quietly to one self).

The freedom you enjoy was provided by men empowered by God opposing men empowered by Satan.

If they'd stood around saying 'Satan is the cause, there is nothing we can do.'
