Luckily we have afforded ourselves a position where we can absorb a somewhat poor road performance. But we have a tough road ahead to try and get back on track. I think all of the following are currently true:
- we have 3 roughly equally weighted pgs who have distinctly different styles of play, and although each are effective it’s creating a discombobulating effect on other players and our offense in general, resulting in over dribbling and limiting ball movement
- Grill now has the green light to take some absurdly bad shots, and he is going to take them
- in a game where you could use some instant offense, you can not currently turn to Warrick because he has been regulated to as minimally realistic a role for an upper classmen as possible and has become passive and unsure
- inversely Crews seems to believe when he steps on the court we need him to get some shots up. And Shaw played some frantic 1.5 minutes trying desperately to make something happen when he was allowed on the court.
- Allen is being overexposed trying to guard significantly bigger players limiting the good things he can bring to the table
- too often when we give our go to guy Mitchell the ball in key situations where we need a bucket it’s outside the arc just asking him to create far from the basket.
All of that is fixable, but those are challenging situations for a coach to resolve. Will be interesting over the next few if those are mitigated or become more problematic.
