IRS employees, and only 2100 of the nearly 3000 you mentioned can carry weapons and badges. You fouled up really badly if a CI agent is involved in prosecuting you. It is normal that CI special agents were at one time revenue agents.

None of the revenue agents in SBSE, LB&I, TE/GE, or TAS carry weapons.
