They are so ridiculously strong and fast - if you have seen a game from right under the basket you know TV just doesn't do it justice.
There's contact all the time, at any given time there's likely at least 2 defenders making contact with offensive players.
One way to improve officiating would be to call all contact, which would be horrible in the beginning and would ultimately result in a lot of guys not being able to play at all.
Several camera angles can instantly prove a ref wrong.
From what I've seen, almost every time there's a foul called, it was actually a foul, and a lot of times there's a foul that's not called.
