matter if the LAFD hired 100% white males. There still would not be enough for the fire.
DEI has nothing to do with how many firefighters they have. The LAFD gets 20,000+ applicants a year and they have a bit over 3,200 fire fighters. There is no shortage of applicants. The fire department is just too small for the size of the fire.
That is what they mean by they don’t have enough fire fighters. They aren’t saying they couldn’t fill open positions.
