What is wrong with punishment for those who do ill to others?

Why would all good people not have a strong impulse to punish the wicked and harmful to try and change their course of actions.

Of course people who live in a False reality believe love and Hugs will some how help evil doers see the light... when in reality it's only the Heat that will change their criminal ways.
