I always point to Phil Jackson and what he did with the Lakers. Del Harris couldn't do anything with that same team. Jackson won three straight titles. It's about managing the players personalities too as well as Xs and Os. English may not have the managing personalities of the equation. He does have a bit of an outgoing personality that might rub on guys wrong at a young age.

But coaching in basketball is so critical. If you can get a group of average players to play hard on defense and do fundamental things well you can win, at least to a point. That's coaching
