She’s shooting 46% from the field, 35% from the 3 point line.
According to your standard, that’s “acceptable, but far from remarkable”.
Izzy is shooting 47% from the field, 34% from 3s. One percentage point better than Watkins on FGs, one percentage point less on 3s. Seems like a wash to me.
Plus Izzy is hitting 90.4% of her FTs, while Watkins is hitting 84.5% of hers, a full 6 percentage points better.
Caitlin Clark averaged 46% in FG percentage over her college career. Never shot better than 47% in any single season.
And of course I’m not saying that Izzy is anywhere near as good as Clark or Watkins.
Just saying that sneering at a guard shooting 47% from the field is kind of ill informed.
