People hire "themselves".

Executives higher junior executives who are just like they are.
Junior executives higher subordinates who are just like they are.
And so it goes.

Throw in DEI and a substantial amount of, "competence doesn't matter, I need a black one" and you've got the current FIB, the current DOJ, the current DOD and the current DHS.

Not to mention the current vice president of the United States, a sitting associate justice on the Supreme Court of the United States and countless other cabinet positions and bureaucrats throughout the government.

Very few are competent, almost none are believable or trustworthy.
