They had 23 assists and we had 8. Three times as many. Their offense was smooth and ran plays and got players open for easy looks.
Got outrebounded 35-27.
Amazingly we won the turnover battle 20-14, and had 16 steals.
We could have easily lost that game by 25+ points.
The moral victory (haha) is that we only lost to them by 13 on our home court, while Arkansas lost to them by 21 on theirs.
But to remind everyone:
ORU came in with a NET ranking of 86
They lost to Ok St by 21, and to Oklahoma by 40
They lost to Northern Arizona by 7
I scoffed a little when someone else here said they doubted we would win a single SEC game this year. I still think it’s really, really hard to go 0-16 in a conference that includes mediocre or worse teams like Arkansas, Georgia, TAMU and Florida. I still have to believe that in one of those 4 games one of them will play even worse than we do and we will steal a win. Maybe 2. But the odds of us going 0-16 seem far greater now than the odds of us going 4-12.
