especially under those circumstances.

It was a kangaroo court. The officers had no chance of a fair trial with the social & political pressure that existed at the time. Angry mobs rioting in the streets, burning down cities, threatening the jurors' lives... while Floyd (a career-criminal who was being arrested for passing counterfeit bills) was celebrated as some kind of hero.
