Mizzou won 25 games and an NCAA tournament before, beat Minnesota and Pittsburg on the road, and beat Wichita State at home by this point. I could easily see thinking the team could make the NCAA tournament. Jackson State was a fluke, Memphis to start the season with basically a new team and ku in lawrence being tough to win anyways.
