Of course not. Cook seemed like he was developing.

The big question mark was the defense.
Then they blanked the first two cupcakes and it felt like we might finally have something here.
Then the circus arrived with 2 and 59 and we were turning average teams into double-overtime wins.
Wins, sure, great, and then the only teams with some sort of pulse absolutely walloped us with our offense looking absolutely funky.
Mind you the entire time we had a player with a super-hero force-field that every time you got him in space, he couldn't be tackled. Where other players might fall short and leave us with a field goal attempt, like as not he would find the endzone.
And then we suddenly we couldn't get him in space. It seemed like we would go the whole game and then somehow in the 4th quarter Luther would make one catch or run (or both) and totally change the game. But it was late and weird and like it was some kind of last gasp option.
This is one of those seasons where it feels like we left a ton on the table - that's different than 2013/2014 or even 2007. In those years we showed incredible potential and better teams simply beat us down - we didn't have answers at the highest level.
This year it felt like we were playing with Brady Cook's arm tied behind his back, wondering when or if he'd break through enough to get a win.
Another way to put it: if Cook played a notch better than last year? We beat both A&M & Alabama in a close ones and we crush these teams that played us close. Our defense was that good - and of course we go to the playoffs.
Instead we go to some consolation bowl (no matter how nice - still - a consolation bowl) and wonder about what might have been...
