Tennessee already has other big rivalries

Vandy is their rivalry week opponent. Having to share the state of Tennessee with another SEC team has caused this to be a rivalry. There are more Tennessee fans than Vandy fans in Nashville, so the stadium is lively when the game is in Nashville.
Tennessee always plays Alabama every year, and they have quite a rivalry with Bama.
Tennessee and Georgia also have a pretty competitive rivalry.
Tennessee and Florida have a rivalry that I would say is bigger than theirs against Missouri.
To Tennessee, Missouri was a formidable opponent, but not nearly the historical rival of those schools.
