I now think SEC teams should schedule two bottom feeder B1Gs for their cupcake games.
This puts either the same teams or teams with fewer degrees of separation on the same schedule as the top B1Gs.
Never, ever play Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon, USC, Washington or even Wisconsin during the regular season.
Do play Purdue, Illinois, Rutgers, Northwestern, Michigan State, Iowa, Minnesota and yes even Nebraska and BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF THEM.
This creates comparable results to the leading B1Gs. They beat Purdue by two touchdowns? We beat Purdue by four touchdowns.
Our results being otherwise comparable with say another 2-loss B1G and the SEC gets in by making it easy on the CFP.
As is stands now, most of the two-loss SEC teams have losses against other SEC teams and bone-crushing wins over cupcakes - that doesn't help the CFP decide whether to let in a B1G or an SEC team.
The task now is to prove the B1G is significantly lower quality at the bottom than the SEC - this type of scheduling would make that very clear to the CFP committee causing more SEC to get in...
