stating that federal spending outpaced output from manufacturing, farming & ... the top five total private market categories combined.

I'm sure federal employment outpaces the same private market economic categories as well, especially if the military is counted.

The growth in federal government spending and employment has certainly not slowed since then, eg. the little army of new IRS agents with their million rounds of ammunition to get them started.

The Dems have been claiming that we *need* the huge influx of illegal immigrants to do all of the necessary jobs in America. Hopefully the federal employees who are let go can find the highest and best use of their talents in some productive endeavor in the private market... certainly they should be equipped to at least take the roles the illegal immigrants would have taken. At least most of them presumably know English, have drivers' licenses, some education, and know how get their food from grocery stores rather than in parks, lakes and their neighbors' back yards.
