teams ended today.
But GA-TN went as expected and now we have five two-loss SEC teams, all of whom are more worthy for CFP inclusion than all of the non-SEC teams currently in the CFP.
I explained when the news that Texas and Oklahoma were leaving for the SEC that our conference was going to have a serious problem - too many good teams.
That problem leads to this situation where less worthy teams make the CFP while the SEC beats up on itself.
An extremely top-heavy B1G means that Ohio State and Penn State (middle of the road SEC-caliber teams) feast on the rest of the B1G. Oregon also would be a middle-of-the road SEC team.
So while it's great to be in the super league, it's too bad Sankey did not have the vision necessary to understand that six SEC teams had to be locked into a 12-team CFP in order to be fair to the SEC.
It should have been that or break away with B1G entirely and set up a separate league where the SEC entire was better protected and the remaining leagues, ACC, Big 12 and all the official mid-majors were essentially relegated to a second tier.
As it stands we now have a vomit in the mouth CFP bracket and if the expected schedules playout with Texas losing to A&M (which I'm expecting) then we will have an SEC Championship with two two-loss teams, the loser of which will not go into the CFP, which is bonkers.
The 12-team playoff was going to solve all problems once and for all but once again, when committees get involved the entire thing gets screwed up and here we are...
