he goes out of his way to align himself with whoever might have some sense of legitimacy, be it a coach, a journalist, a statistician, whoever might have some sense of credibility. it's all a desperate attempt to be viewed as some sort of insider.
and then when you start peeling back the layers you quickly see all these affiliations that he's worked so hard to make appear genuine, are actually incredibly thin.
