Now a 5 seed in VB bracketology…

The bracket projection guy on VolleyTalk has us as a projected 5 seed in his update yesterday, just outside of hosting a regional. Here are the projected bids and seed lines for SEC teams:

3 Kentucky
3 Texas
5 Missouri
6 Florida
7 TAMU
8 Oklahoma
Auburn
Arkansas
Tennessee
SC

Tennessee and SEC are listed in the last 5 teams in group. Ole Miss is listed in the first 8 teams out group.

10 teams seems like a lot for the SEC. I’d be surprised if that many actually get bids. My guess is more like 8 or 9. Auburn in particular, after looking great for a bid several weeks ago, is on a 7 match losing streak and could possibly finish on an 0-11 losing streak.

Tough being so close to hosting a regional, but to do that we would need to replace one of the projected 4 seeds. Here are those teams, with their current poll ranking and RPI rank noted:

Purdue 8/20
Oregon 11/13
TCU 18/12
Utah 20/14

Right now we are #25 in the AVCA poll and #17 in RPI. To have a real shot at hosting we have to beat either Florida or Kentucky and take care of business against Ole Miss, Miss St and Auburn. And hope some of the 4 teams above us stumble down the stretch.
