It seemed he was surprised by the question of why he didn't play. Once he gained his bearing he gave the best answer in the end. He wanted to get Crewes and to a lesser degree Allen minutes and once he didn't use Pierce in the 1st half decided to roll with them. I don't see where Allen would be a hindrance to Pierce getting minure but I certainly understand Crewes being so.
