It was a huge issue the last couple of seasons. The transfers Gates has brought in have mostly been very poor defenders, it resulted defenses that were among the worst at the high major level in Gates first 2 years.

This team has the potential to at least be ok defensively. They have to learn how to play together though. Which is what these games in November are really about.
