What's with this trend with contractors giving 8-10 hour...

windows to show up for a service call?
I set a irrigation winterization a few weeks ago for a specific time tomorrow. Today they send me an email saying the technician will be there anytime between 7:15 a.m. and 5 p.m.
So we have a 8:30 with our FA which is 30 minutes away. Just going to keep both appointments and if we don't make it, the irrigation company can **** off.
A ten hour window for something like that? That's insane.
