People are rightly focusing on the tyrannical acts committed by agents of the state of New York and by now I hope you understand what I have been talking about here for a good decade-plus. But there is another element to the story that also ties into a constant refrain of mine. A woman called the state agency and complained about the squirrel. Mind you, she lived an hour away and isn't even a neighbor of the squirrel's owner.
Respect property rights and mind your own business. Reject the Stalinesque "if you see something, say something."
Remember this flow chart:
Someone is doing something
1. Is it offensive? Yes, see 2. No, see 5.
2. Is someone else being harmed? Yes, see 3. No, see 5.
3. Is that someone society? Yes, see 5. No, see 4.
4. Provide aid or defend if able and with force if necessary.
5. Mind your own business
