1. last year Fania had shoulder issues that significantly impaired her throwing. I believe sh had surgery in the off-season so we’ll need to see if she has the arm to play meaningful innings at catcher.
2. Sokoloski is purely an outfielder. I expect she’ll be the first one off the bench is any of the three apparent starters falters.
3.I expect Hill to become a big-time player, but she probably needs a year of seasoning. For one thing, she is a third baseman, and either Daly or Walker will be playing there. Additionally, as you note, her defense needs a lot of work. I expect that her role this year will be pinch hitting.
4. Like last year, Walker will be penciled into the batting order. If Daly starts at SS, Walker will start at third. It is where she played in HS and club ball. If Daly starts at 3B, Walker will very likely start at DH unless and until she fails at the plate. I expect a big season from her. She has massive talent and power at the plate.
5. Dodge is purely an OF, and unless she proves she can hit much better than last year, I expect her to play a limited role this year. If, however, she can recapture her Northern Iowa magic, then watch out. She was a game-changing hitter there.
