1. Trump says 20 things worse than that in every public speaking opportunity he makes. It’s just everyone recognizes him as a joke and not a serious person so nobody cares what he says.

2. This isn’t 2016. It would have been inappropriate to refer to a Trump supporter in 2016 as garbage because they could have been falling for a con man, a simpleton, aggrieved, religious, or just not particularly sophisticated and consuming bad information. In 2024 it’s pretty hard to make a reasonable argument at this point a Trump supporter isn’t fundamentally a garbage person.

3. I don’t remotely hate you. You are misconstruing pity and contempt for hatred.
