With both Auburn and Arkansas continuing their free fall with no end in sight. Which overall I think hurts Missouri in the long run, as we need to rack up as many quality (top 25, top 50) RPI wins as possible to get a decent seed in the NCAA tournament. We already have the win in hand over Arkansas, on the road no less. And have Auburn coming up at home later.

Auburn took a bad loss at home last night, 3-1 to Ole Miss. that was their 5th straight loss in the SEC. After starting out 3-0 in conference play, including a 3-2 win over Kentucky, they are now sitting at 4-6. And their current 5 loss streak has been against Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, SC, and Ole Miss, not exactly a murderers row. Their RPI before last night was 32, not awful, but they were in the teens a few weeks ago.

Arkansas has also lost 5 straight, losing at home last night to Florida 3-1. They started out 4-0 in the SEC, and are now 4-5. In contrast to Auburn, they started out with a very easy SEC schedule and as soon as it got tougher, they’ve lost 5 straight:

At Texas 3-0
At TAMU 3-1
Missouri at home 3-1
At Miss St 3-0
Florida at home 3-1

Their RPI was down to 44 before last nights game, and losing to Florida probably won’t hurt it much.

Still, not great news for us to see both Auburn and Arkansas struggling to this degree.
