The original Dreamland Ribs is outside Tuscaloosa.
I went there about 25 years ago. Simple place, plain, with concrete floors and all that. The sign on the wall, with place-on lettering, said "FULL SLAB 14.99, HALF SLAB 9.99"
We sat down, and a large waitress slowly sauntered up to us and sais "Whatch'all want?" I ask to see a menu and she pointed to that sign and said "Ain't got no menu, jus' ribs." Your choices are full slab or half slab, which comes with a pile of white bread. The order she is taking is for beer or whatever else you want to drink.
I have since been to the new Dreamland Ribs places in Birmingham and Huntsville, which are more normal restaurants with real menus including other BBQ, sides, and, of course, banana pudding. It's been a while, but the last I heard is that the original Dreamland Ribs in Tuscaloosa still serves only ribs and white bread.
Best damned ribs you'll ever have.
