In August, the university forced LBC to change the name of its Welcome Black BBQ to the Welcome Black and Gold BBQ. The university said the decision to change the event name was made in collaboration with event organizers to reflect that the event and campus is welcoming to all, according to previous KOMU 8 reporting.

However, LBC said it was told the event's name must be changed or it could not be held at all.
