bit stronger cupcakes for the 1st two games would have served us a little better, but they did give us a chance to play against someone besides our own teams in scrimmages. They also gave more players a chance to get some playing time, see how the performed & get the jitters out. Having the whole game experience with a crowd & referees helps too.
Tough games have some advantages, but are also more likely to get our players banged up and a slip up before we've adjusted to all of the new players and coaches could cost us down the road if we're on or near the bubble to get into the playoffs.
Boston College challenged the players & coaches, I think, and showed them that they really need to focus and motivate to win these games. The double overtime against Vandy was similar in that regard, giving them some pressure and yet still coming out with the win.
It showed them what they need to clean up and what to work on and yet we still came out relatively healthy and with a win.
I'll take it.
They've had 4 games to tune things up & make corrections. We'll see whether they're ready to come out firing on all cylinders on Saturday.
