.....is as All American as Mom's apple pie.
Someone once said the most popular player on the team is the backup QB (I would submit that isn't the case with the KC Chiefs :-) ).
But having fans question the QB's performance is part of football - it's always been part of football - fans pay their money - they support their team - they're allowed to have opinions and voice opinions about the players.
Brady is off to a slow start - everybody knows it - Brady admits that himself - and fans expecting improvement - not digression - from your QB isn't asking too much.
Eli Hoff's article this morning: "According to Pro Football Focus, Cook’s completion percentage on throws 20 yards or more downfield has sunk from 46.8% in 2023 and fourth in the Southeastern Conference to 21.4% in 2024. Now-benched Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold is the only SEC QB with a lower mark".
I understood Drink getting upset with fans booing Cook before the K-State game last year. Stuck up for his QB - totally understood that.
But in the interview he gave this week, going after fans for questioning Brady's season so far this year - when I read that, it was like "C'mon coach, enough with the virtue signaling and clutching of pearls. He's the QB of your team who isn't as good this year as he was last year - people commenting on that and being critical comes with the territory."
I'm thinking Brady begins to turn it around against A & M - the team is 4-0 - he hasn't had any turnovers - but he's clearly capable of more.
To start with, on the deep balls, give the receivers a chance - overthrowing that ball consistently gives them no shot.
And I'll continue to eat mom's apple pie and give opinions about the teams that I follow. It's what makes America great! :-)
