he might well feel like he never should have left here - it remains to be seen how the rest of the year goes.

Certainly, one wrong move in coaching (or any career) can negatively impact your future in a big way. Some of it is being good, some is luck. It isn't always the best move to only try to make as much money as you can early in your career.
