all too often i'll walk into someplace and be like "meh this lobby isn't really very inviting, and doesn't make much of an impression" and right out of the gate i have a lowered expectation. i think more people should dig in and invest in their lobbies. set the standard high. make people think when they walk in the door "damn i bet this place has top tier stripper AND shrimp cocktail on the buffet!"
