Was Florida losing 3-2 to a South Florida team that came in 0-3 on the season.
Kentucky lost their first match of the season to a top 5 Nebraska team 3-1. Then yesterday nearly swept a powerful #7 Penn State team 3-0, winning the first 2 sets then losing a tough 3rd set 26-24, before losing in 5 sets. No disgrace there, not even close to it. PSU recently destroyed #4 Louisville 3-0 (15,19,13).
Texas losing to a top 20 Minnesota team in 5 sets was a mild surprise, but they will be fine. Any loss to a top 20 team in 5 sets, I don’t consider to be a big upset, even for a team like Texas.
I was going to do a summary of the SEC teams after the first two weeks are in the books. Even then is kind of early because SOS has varied so widely so far. Based on a limited sample size, I’m way more impressed with Texas and Kentucky, much more than Florida.
