but nothing much ever happens. federal funding is not direct to npr. that's their loophole. funds go to the local level and then back to npr in a circuitous manner that allows npr to claim but 1% of there's is from the feds.

republicans do pretty much nothing but claptrap the subject. likely this is because their donors enjoy nina totenberg and mara liason fashion. it's all about keeping in office after all.
