my Dad's family got kicked out the house on Confederate Hill in COMO in the 1930's as tenant farmers. Do I have a claim to that land now? No.
Prior to 1948 Jews owned by purchase and old family pass thrus almost 900 sq miles of Israel - that is about 10% of the 8,500 sq miles of Israel. In 1921 the area population was 752,000 - 84,000 Jews(11%), 71,000 Christians(9%), and 589,000 Palestinians(80%)
THere were plenty of Jews in the mandate area even into the 1800's - "According to the Turkish census of 1875, by that time Jews already constituted a majority of the population of Jerusalem and by 1905 comprised two-thirds of its citizens. The Encyclopaedia Britannica of 1910 gives the population figure as 60,000, of whom 40,000 were Jews.)"
