VB opens regular season on Friday…

In the only exhibition, last Sunday, Mizzou barely got past Omaha, winning 25-23, 25-23, 25-20. There is a good write up of the match on Rock M Nation. As usual, no article on that match on the Mizzou website.
This weekend we play Drake on Friday, preseason #12 Creighton on Saturday, and NC State on Sunday. This will be a good test as we start the season with 6 straight away games. Creighton is the real deal, should be a top 20 team this year, probably top 15. Expect to see them get a national seed. Drake and NC St are decent teams. Not top 25 by any means but the kind of teams we need to play and beat early in the season as we get ready for SEC play. Drake finished 2nd the last two years in the MVC and is picked for 3rd this season. NC State was 24-11 last year and is picked 8th in the ACC this season.
Two years ago we probably would have gone 0-3 in these matches. Now it will be a big disappointment to go any worse than 2-1. Not expecting us to beat a team like Creighton, but would be nice to play them close and take a set, maybe 2.
