First in referencing "the Bible" in terms of Christianity, one would imagine you mean the New Testament. Do you? Or are you taking the "Bible" back to Issaiah 2. (interesting side note here is that the prophet known as Issaiah II was an historic contemporary of the Buddha and Confucius. Anyhow - if by the "Bible" you mean the New Testament then the 'followers' of Jesus were the poor, the mostly wretched poor of the rural areas of Palestine. Jesus was poor and spoke to very poor audience. None of them were prosperous by definition. There were - apparently some women of some means who were supporting of the Jesus Cult known as "the Way" who would host meals and teachings, but few are named, just historic outliers.
