He followed 2 years of Blaine Gabbert being our starter. We won the North twice under Daniel, not under Gabbert. We got to #1 in 2007, Franklin's first year as a starter was 2011. And we finished #4 in 2013.
Franklin was a very good QB, a great leader, and a great person. He gave everything he had for Mizzou, and we don't ask for more than that.
In the modern era, I think generally the rankings of QB probably go something like this:
Daniel
Smith
Gabbert
Lock/Franklin
Franklin/Lock
Cook
I think Cook can (and will) pass Franklin and Lock this year as far as how they're remembered/loved. I think it's POSSIBLE for Cook to even pass Gabbert (though Cook has no chance imo of being a first round pick in the NFL). I think Franklin is deservedly on the list of QBs we love, the problem is there's other guys at his position right before him that were just simply better. That's not a knock on him.
