How do you know that Donald Trump was lying?

Keep in mind that the meaning of a lie is that a person knows a truth but intentionally tells others something that he knows is untrue in order to deceive them.

If Trump's father was telling people that he was Swedish, what makes you think that Donald knew that he was not in fact Swedish or partially Swedish?

Is it not possible that Donald took his father's statements at face value and believed it? Do we know that there was no Swedish ancestry in his family?
