Federal investigators discovered the mysterious Cairo transaction from early 2017 as they pursued classified intelligence indicating Egypt’s president wanted to give Donald Trump $10 million, a Washington Post investigation has found. But the case ground to a halt after Attorney General William P. Barr raised questions.
