First, Mahomes' shelf life as a highly paid QB is limited; unlike all the rest of us idiots who surf TB, he can only work as a QB into his late 30's (if things work out well), thus the need to maximize his career earnings.
The other side of it is, he's got endorsements out the ass, and a significant part of that is the attention that comes with his team's success.
The third side of it is, once you get to a certain point, an extra dollar doesn't make much of a difference in his life.
The first hamburger is worth more to a hungry man than the 7th to a guy who has already eaten 6.
