Like all hearings like this it's designed to allow voters to see Congress members scream and yell and demean witnesses. It's the modern version of a tar and feather.

There is very little actual evidentiary value, which is why no one cooperates. On either side by the way. Because there's no incentive to do so. You just take the lashings, apologize profusely and try to get through it until the actual investigation(s) proceed.

Is that so crazy of a concept?
