"These people in these small towns in Oklahoma have NO IDEA what a tornado is, what they do, how/when they happen, and what to do during one."
Like that is a premise that you MUST ACCEPT for the movie to happen. It's just incredible.
It also ties itself to the original movie in the opening scene by having "Dorothy V" and the little censors with the "pop can" propellers on them. So, you know you're in the same universe that the movie "Twister" happened. Great! I'm all for it.
And then it never - ever - connects again. We have to go the rest of the movie pretending the first movie didn't exist, the characters are never referenced, the data that movie would have resulted in never happened because "we still don't know how a tornado is formed and there's just never any warnings." Meanwhile, the National Weather Service is able to predict a full 3 days ahead of time "there's going to be a record-breaking number of tornadoes in Oklahoma in a few days."
So...we *can* predict when a tornado happens?
Yes.
But tornado sirens aren't a thing?
Only about 1 second before the tornado touches down.
Why?
So they movie can happen.
Also, it is also possible to make a pickup truck be simultaneously so rugged and protected against tornado debris, physical damage, etc., but also it can EASILY drive with the agility of a F1 racecar in cornfields during a F3 tornado.
