Had she said what she said and nobody brought it up to her employer, she wouldn't have been terminated.

Had she said what she said, and her employer found it online, but nobody complained, she likely wouldn't have been terminated.

It's the fact that her comments are leading to complaints that led her to being terminated.

I once had an employee who made poor comments on social media; comments regarding an issue I more or less agreed with but were phrased in a pretty crappy way.

External stakeholders, as well as other employees found out about her comments and made me aware of their displeasure.

I needed to fire her because if I'd have kept her on, it would have negatively impacted my business.

Don't do or say **** that causes headaches for your boss, regardless of whether you're doing it at work, or not.
